Holiday Notice
04 November 2008
On Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 MHPCC will be operating on a holiday schedule. The center will be open and all technology services will be available, however MHPCC will be operating at reduced staffing levels.

If you require assistance, onsite staff will be available to respond to Severity 1 Help Desk calls at 808-879-5077, and if necessary, MHPCC will contact other technical staff if needed. If you anticipate requiring any special assistance on November 4th, please contact our User Services department or the CCAC by email or by telephone.

Hoku will be unavailable while undergoing regularly scheduled maintenance on Wednesday October 22, 2008 from 0800 to 1700 HST.

Security and bug fixes from Cray's XD1 update set M will be performed and all nodes will be rebooted. Also, DDN controller firmware will be updated.

MHPCC Jaws FY08 Completion
24 September 2008
Wednesday October 1, 2008 starts the new fiscal year for the HPCMP and in turn, CPU allocations for FY09.

All FY08 allocations will expire on Tuesday September 30, 2008 23:59 HST; any jobs that will not complete before this time will be purged. A system reservation is scheduled to handle the completion of FY08.

Please plan accordingly and resubmit any jobs for the new FY09 allocations after October 1, 2008 (HST).

If you are a HPCMP user, verify your FY09 Visit Request has be sent to MHPCC specifically.

Hoku/Polaris maintenance has been postponed due to project scheduling conflicts.

Hoku will be unavailable while undergoing regularly scheduled maintenance on Thursday September 18, 2008, from 0800 - 1700 HST.

Cray XD1 1.4.2 security patches and updates will be performed and all nodes will be rebooted.

The MHPCC Jaws system will be undergoing emergency maintenance to resolve a chiller issue in the computer room.

We are anticipating the repair may be completed by August 6, 2008 at 1700 HST. Jobs may be aborted to facilitate the repair.

Kirby OpenSSH Clients Disallowed on July 28th, 2008

Attention Users,

It has been mandated that the SSH versions 5.0p1a and 4.7p1b coupled in the Kirby OpenSSH clients be disallowed on July 28th 2008.

Please be certain you are not running these OpenSSH clients or download the latest Kerberos kit from

http://www.hpcmo.hpc. mil/security/kerberos/

to prevent any disruption of access to MHPCC systems.
