Maui, always known as a premier vacation location, is becoming the high tech center of Hawaii. The Maui Research and Technology Park is a focus point for this activity and home to the Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC), one of the world's most powerful supercomputing centers.
One focus of the MHPCC is to develop high performance computing (HPC) educational programs that assist users in the Department of Defense (DoD), government, and academia in acquiring the technical skills needed to utilize the capabilities of scalable computing systems and applications.
MHPCC has taken a leadership role in parallel programming training, conducting over 40 workshops on this topic for over 600 researchers, scientists, and application developers. To meet the demand for advanced parallel programming training, an advanced course in parallel programming is now offered as well as a course in programming on LINUX clusters.
Introductory SP Parallel Programming Workshop. Designed to help software developers, researchers, and scientists understand the limitations of serial computing, learn the advantages of the parallel computing, and acquire basic programming concepts on the IBM RS/6000 SP System. The materials are continually updated to reflect new advancements in SP hardware, message passing libraries, parallel tools, and the MHPCC computing environment. The Introductory SP Parallel Programming Workshop is a self-contained course, with all materials on MHPCC'S home page available via the Internet.
Like the Introductory workshop, this workshop provides numerous examples and most tutorials include lab exercises with ample lab time. All course materials are available in HTML format.
